Guacachile is a mix of a creamy guacamole-style salsa and a fresh salsa verde. We made ours with avocado oil, serrano peppers, tomatillos, cilantro, and other delicious ingredients to give it a robust flavor. The result? A fresh, creamy, and medium-heat salsa that pairs just right with our new Maíz Totopos Corn Tortilla Chips!
⅓ cup Avocado Oil
4 Serrano Chiles, stems removed
4 Tomatillos, husks removed
¼ cup White Onion,chopped
2 Cloves Garlic
1 tablespoon Fresh Lime Juice
½ cup Cilantro, roughly chopped
1 tsp Sea Salt
⅓ cup Avocado Oil
4 Serrano Chiles, stems removed
4 Tomatillos, husks removed
¼ cup White Onion,chopped
2 Cloves Garlic
1 tablespoon Fresh Lime Juice
½ cup Cilantro, roughly chopped
1 tsp Sea Salt
Heat the avocado oil in a large cast iron pan over medium-high heat. Once the pan is hot, add the chiles and tomatillos and fry them for about 10 minutes. Make sure to move them around so that all sides of all the chiles and tomatillos get blistered and brown.
Once they are brown on all sides, transfer the solids to the blender.. Add the onion, garlic, lime juice, cilantro, salt and blend until completely smooth. Slowly stream in the ⅓ cup of avocado oil from the pan to achieve a thick and creamy salsa.
