We have many memories of our parents leaving the house in the early hours of the morning to grab pan dulce (sweet bread) from the local panadería (bakery). We’d wake to bags filled with baked goods—which always included conchas, traditional Mexican pastries with a sweet seashell-shaped topping. During the holidays, when our family gathers, this tradition is in full swing!
