Verde Leaders is a positive youth development program that supports schools in Austin by combining soccer with social-emotional learning, restorative practices, and mindfulness to help low-income youth find personal and academic success.
It’s been such a joy for our Siete team to get to know the Verde Leaders program! We’ve been able to see the various ways the program encourages fundamental and thoughtful skills for their students. From belly-breathing exercises to community sharing circles, we admire how the Verde Leaders program aims to nurture the “whole self” of young individuals through soccer. Our familia loves soccer, and we love that this program goes above and beyond using it as a vehicle for change and community-building. ¡Vamos verdes!
On behalf of 4ATX Foundation, we are proud to share: In the fall of 2023, Verde Leaders had 268 new students introduced to the program for a total of 388 total students in attendance! 95% of these students reported feeling more hopeful about their futures because of Verde Leaders, and 91% stated that they try harder in school because of the program.
We are so grateful to YOU—our extended familia—in supporting 4ATX’s Verde Leaders program through one of our favorite holiday traditions: Mini Buñuelos. ¡Juntos es mejor!
