These carnitas call for a bit of patience, but the reward is gently-spiced, slow-cooked pork that melts in your mouth. Paired with the subtle sweetness of our Maíz Organic Yellow Corn Tortillas, a spritz of zingy lime, and a dollop of salsa, every bite is completely worth the wait. ¡Buen Provecho!

  1. Step 1

    In a slow cooker, add pork and ½ cup of water. Cook on low setting for 6-7 hours.
  2. Step 2

    Once the meat is cooked, reserve ½ cup of cooking liquid, and drain the rest.
  3. Step 3

    Add carnitas seasoning packet to the meat with ½ cup of cooking liquid. Mix well.
  4. Step 4

    For crispy carnitas, spread the seasoned filling over a sheet tray, and broil in the oven for 2-3 minutes or until crispy. You can alternatively crisp up the meat in a cast iron pan.
  5. Step 5

    Preheat a separate cast iron skillet over medium heat.
  6. Step 6

    Heat each corn tortilla for 10-15 seconds per side. Fill each tortilla with the cooked pork and sprinkle with diced onion and chopped cilantro. Serve with lime wedges and Jalapeño Botana Sauce to taste!
