Togetherness is our family’s way of life. It’s at the core of everything we’ve ever done, and everything we do. 

The Siete “Juntos” Fund, derived from our family’s motto, 
Juntos es Mejor, translates to the Siete “Together” Fund. We’re on a mission to create positive change in the communities that need it most,
 and—like all things—we want to do this together. That’s where you come in.

We are selecting a Latino/Latina/Latiné-owned food business (grocery stores, markets, restaurants, specialty shops, manufacturers, packaged good producers, and more are all invited to apply!) to receive the $25,000 award. We can’t wait to hear your story.


1. Am I eligible?

  1. Eligibility Requirements:
  1. Applicants must own and operate a qualifying business, either independently or with partners. Subsidiary and franchise businesses are not eligible to apply.
  2. Qualifying businesses: 
    1. Business must be at least 50% Latino/Latina/Latiné-owned
    2. Food Purveyors (including, but not limited to, grocery stores, markets, restaurants, specialty shops, manufacturers, and packaged good producers) are eligible to apply. Eligible businesses may sell additional items, such as household supplies, in addition to food, as long as they are primarily a food purveyor.
    3. Annual revenue of no more than $500,000.
    4. Qualifying businesses must be formed under United States law and operating in the United States.
  3. Award recipients must use funds for a legitimate business purpose. Applicants are required to specifically define how they intend to use the award and the positive impact they believe it will have on the community/communities they serve in the application process.
  4. Applicants agree that Siete has the right to publicize their name(s) and business name, if chosen as a semi-finalist and/or award recipient.  
  5. Applicants must be able to provide a W9 to Siete if selected as a semi-finalist.Please note, if selected as the award recipient, Siete will supply a 1099 at the end of the tax year, and the recipient will be responsible for payment of all federal, state, and local taxes on the award sum

3. What happens after I apply?

  1. The application deadline is 11:59:59 PM CST on June 8, 2O21, and every application submitted by that deadline will be diligently and gleefully reviewed by our familia. We can’t wait to learn about the amazing things you’re doing for our comunidad.
  2. After our initial review, we will select five semi-finalists. Semi-finalists will be notified byJune 22nd. Those that do not advance to the semi-finalist round will also be updated via email.
  3. Semi-finalists will need to provide a W9, a Certificate of Good Standing (if not a Sole Proprietor) registered with the state they operate in (if not a Proprietorship), and schedule an interview with our familia to continue with the application process. Although a background check is required and will be conducted with every owner and operator during the semi-finalist round, our applications process is inclusive and holistic. Every application will be considered, regardless of a criminal record.
  4. After the semi-finalist interviews, our team will select one award recipient. The recipient will be notified by July 13th, and our team will begin preparing an article about you/your business for

4. What should I expect from the semi-finalist interview?

  1. The semi-finalist interviews will occur remotely, either via phone or video conferencing. This is our chance to get to know you—and your business—a bit more before we make a final decision.

5. Do I have to pay taxes on the award?

  1. The award recipient will be liable for all federal, state, and local tax on the $25,000 award.

6. How can I spend the funds?

  1. The award must be used for a legitimate business purpose, and must be consistent with what is proposed in your application. We especially recommend thinking about this thoroughly before you apply!

7. Do I have to submit a written application?

  1. We do require a written application, which will allow us to get to know you and your business. We understand that there are many other ways to tell your story, though, so we encourage you to take advantage of the final question on the application which will allow you to submit additional information in any format you choose.

8. Can I preview the application questions?

9. Can I apply in a language other than English?

  1. Yes! We are currently able to accept and review applications submitted in English and/or Spanish.

10. Can I nominate someone and apply on their behalf?

  1. We love that you are thinking of someone in your community that would be a good fit for the Siete Juntos Fund! Each applicant needs to apply on behalf of their own business, so we’d be honored if you’d forward the application link to them and encourage them to apply! Juntos es Mejor!
