Ballparks, state fairs, rodeos. What do they all have in common? One of our favorite crunchy (yet soft and savory) childhood treats: the corndog.

We remember burning our mouths on these every time—never quite able to tame our excitement—and eating them way before they cooled down. (But not before dunking them in a vat of ketchup, of course.)⁠

This recipe is our take on this nostalgic meal that we hope you can enjoy once again, and share with your kiddos for a fun school lunch!⁠



  • Ketchup


  1. Wrap the hot dog in the tortilla.
  2. Pin tortilla to the hotdog with a toothpick where the tortilla ends, and at either the top or bottom of the hotdog.
  3. Heat avocado oil in a pan over medium-high heat.
  4. Place cashew dogs in the pan and fry until golden, flipping intermittently.
  5. Remove from pan and cut down the middle.
  6. Enjoy with ketchup or favorite condiments!
