Ballparks, state fairs, rodeos, and carnivals. What savory childhood treat do they all have in common? One of our favorites: the corndog! We were never quite able to slow our excitement when we’d get one, always eating it way before it cooled down. (But not before dunking it in ketchup and mustard, and in this case, our Whole-30 Approved Traditional Hot Sauce!) This recipe is our grain free take on this nostalgic meal—one that brings memories of fun, excitement, and friends to our minds every time.
2 cups Cassava Flour
½ cup Almond Flour
1 tbsp Flax Meal
1 ½ tsp Salt
4 tbsp Honey
½ tbsp Baking Powder
2 cups Almond Milk or other dairy free milk
8 Gluten Free/Grain Free Hot Dog Sausages of Choice
8-6 inch Skewers (thicker skewers work best for this to hold properly)
2 tbsp Mayonnaise
1 tbsp Yellow Mustard
1 tbsp Ketchup
1 tbsp Siete Traditional Hot Sauce
Preheat a fryer or deep skillet, such as a cast-iron skillet, to 350° F.
Combine all ingredients except sausages in a bowl and whisk until smooth.
Insert skewers into each sausage and dip each skewer into the batter until the sausage is fully covered. Hold over the batter to drip excess batter off.
Fry for 2-3 minutes until they are golden brown on all sides.
Serve with sauce.
